How Venus stays healthy and active as a mother of two

How often do you work out on an average week? Venus is a PumpUp member and a mother of two children who strives to exercise for 6 days a week - at least 3 hours a day. "Summer is my very active season," she revealed. "I'm constantly doing something." When Venus isn't going for a fast-paced run, performing medicine ball push-ups, or lifting heavy at the gym (she can deadlift 165 lbs, for instance), she's motivating others on the PumpUp community to do the best that they can. "Before PumpUp, I ate whatever I wanted to," she elaborated. "But I still exercised 5 days a week for at least two hours a day. Now that I use PumpUp, I eat healthier food too. I had to overcome my poor eating habits. With the inspiration and motivation from the PumpUp community, I learned to make low-fat and low-calorie food a lot more tasty."

To say that Venus is strong would be an understatement. She's also loving and compassionate. Since Venus joined PumpUp in March 2015, she has been able to give unfailing support to the rest of the community on a daily basis. There's hardly a moment that goes by without one of her inspirational progress photos or comments. With the support of over 1,500 friends on PumpUp, Venus has been able to run faster and farther, and lift heavier than ever before. "My friends don't workout out with me because they think I work out too long and hard," she shared. "[But] PumpUp is full of inspiring people. I thank everyone for their love, support, and motivation." 

Though Venus is already extremely physically fit, she only hopes to become healthier and stronger. "With PumpUp, I have [been able to] eating healthier, which has helped me lose more body fat," she offered. "I have never had a problem with my weight, but I didn't care for being skinny. That's how I started working out, putting on weight, and building more muscles. Right now, I'm just trying to stay healthy and strong." 


Her best advice for those looking to lead a more active lifestyle is simple: don't procrastinate. "Don't look for excuses not to workout," she counselled. "Find time to workout even if you have to quit some other activity. It comes down to what's most important to you. Set realistic goals for yourself and don't quit until you reach them."

How Venus stays active

I do one hour of cardio and then come home and make a protein smoothie. Then I turn around and head back to the gym do 2 hours of strength training . I do this routine three days a week. The rest of the days are cardio or video exercise. Sunday is my rest day.
