When Meagan's physician told her that she needed to have her gallbladder removed, she knew that her health was deteriorating. "[I had] a fatty liver [and] I was extremely overweight for my body type," she recalled. "It was beginning to take a toll on my body.  Diabetes runs in both sides of my family and I was on my way to having it myself if I didn’t make a change. I worked hard to lose the weight so that my liver wouldn’t have a buildup of fat on in and I never looked back."

Meagan already made subtle changes to her eating and exercise habits before she joined the PumpUp community six months ago. She started out by exercising 20 minutes a day to a Jillian Michaels Workout program. Each month, she switched out some of her indulgences for healthier substitutions. Six months ago, Meagan looked for a way to sustain her motivation for good. "I wanted to be a part of a motivational and inspirational fitness community that would help me along my journey," she shared. "The app definitely [motivated me] to get more active because of all the users who would share their finished workouts and their healthy meals.  Using the app definitely had an influence on the way I continued to change my diet and exercise."

Over the course of this past year, Meagan lost 110 pounds. "I'm so proud of myself for doing so and I am also proud of anyone else who dedicates their time and life to getting healthy," she exclaimed. "You rock! It’s still hard to believe that I accomplished that, and sometimes when looking at old pictures I can’t believe I was capable of what I did."

Now that Meagan uses PumpUp, she eats even healthier and exercises more often than she used to. She hasn't sworn off the occasional indulgence, either. "I try my hardest every day to be the healthiest version of myself that I can be," she shared. "That is not to say I don’t have my off days where I get my cookie cravings, but the most important thing is to realize that we are allowed mistakes. Get up and keep going."

Moving forward, Meagan's main goal is to motivate and inspire other members on PumpUp to change their lives the way that she did. "I am no better than anyone else out there, so if I can do it so can you," she insisted. "I always make sure to answer each question I am asked in the comments [of my PumpUp photos] and let people know that they can come to me for anything they may need to help them with their journey.I would have loved to have someone do that for me, so I try to be that for other people."

Meagan's Best Advice

My best advice is to just GET STARTED! I get asked all the time, “How did you do it?”. I simply told myself that I was tired of feeling unhappy and being unhealthy.I was told I had a fatty liver and then soon after I had to have my gallbladder removed, which scared me! It was after that that I told myself enough was enough and I needed to make a change. All you have to do is believe in yourself and know that you are capable of so much more than you know. The journey is not always easy or fun but it is WORTH it. Your health and happiness is worth it, so I encourage anyone who is thinking about getting active or losing weight to just DO IT! You don’t have to start big or make any drastic changes. Starting slow is a good idea to ensure that you don’t set yourself up for failure, because changing a lifestyle is a big change and it takes time.

Basically, I recommend you just go for it.The only thing you have to lose is the weight! ☺

Also, I am always around for people to ask questions or to talk about their doubts with.My main goal with my fitness journey is to help others as much as I can because if I can do it, so can everyone else!

Meagan's Biggest Motivation

My biggest motivation has always been the end result. On days that I don’t feel up to it or when I feel like I want to give up, I remember what I’m doing this for. I’m doing this for health and happiness, and to be the best version of myself that I can. I am also doing this to help and inspire others to change their lives as well. The people who ask me questions and tell me how I have inspired or helped them start their journey is the biggest form of motivation I have experienced. My motivation is motivating others, along with being the healthiest and happiest I can be.

Meagan's Workout Routine

Lately I have been getting into weight lifting more so I really enjoy doing that.  My weekly schedule is Monday: back/shoulders/chest, Tuesday: cardio, Wednesday: leg day!, Thursday: cardio, Friday: arms & core, Saturday: cardio.  I love my workouts and I have fun doing them, which is a plus!  I think everyone should find workouts that they love and have fun with them.  Some people may enjoy sports as a workout and others may prefer the gym.. Do what makes you happy and piques your interest in fitness, that way you will always be motivated to get active!
