When I went to the grocery store a few days ago, I couldn't believe my eyes. They were selling Aloe Vera! I was so excited I had to buy it. Handling Aloe Vera wasn't as easy as I hoped. In order to get to the gel inside, you have to cut off the hard green outer layer. As soon as there was only one side of green peel left, it got really slippery! Please be careful when removing gel from the Aloe Vera and don’t cut yourself. You can eat the peel, but it is really hard and bitter.

In Homeopathy, Aloe Vera is used to treat inflammation in the body so I wanted to make the smoothie as fresh as possible. Mint is always my number one choice for making things taste fresh! The sourness of the pineapple helped a lot as well.

I took a handful of kale, a handful of spinach and some mint and threw it into the blender. Then I took a generous slice of pineapple, cut it into tiny pieces and added it to the blender. As described earlier, I had problems with the slippery Aloe Vera Gel but as soon as I got the hang of it, I finally was able to add it to the smoothie. After this, to get the consistency you like, you can add more or less coconut water.

When I presented the Almighty Aloe Smoothie to my boyfriend he wasn’t happy about it at first, because it was green and assumed it wouldn't taste good. But he was wrong. I consider this to be one of my tastiest smoothies ever. It is sour, sweet and minty. And long story short: he loved it! (And he is my toughest critic).

A word of warning, though: do not ingest too much Aloe Vera Gel because it can have a laxative effect!
