We recently spoke with Zack S. from Waterloo, Ontario about his experience working out with PumpUp. Here’s what he had to say:

I have been using PumpUp for just under 6 months. It is a great tool for planning and showing me exactly what to do in the gym and giving me tips if I’m not sure how to properly execute certain exercises. 

Prior to using PumpUp, I hadn’t really been going to the gym. I was doing a lot of walking, back and forth on campus, but I knew that wasn’t enough. Even if I did go to the gym, I would tend to do the same exercises each time, or I would just give up after around half an hour. As a student, my life is always on the go, be it with school work, meeting with professors, my job off campus, etc… 

In years prior, I had gained massive amounts of weight during the school year. I thought I was eating healthy throughout the day, but that clearly wasn’t the case. Forget the freshman 15, I entered my 1st year of university weighing 195 pounds.I left university that school year having gained 40 pounds and now weighing 235 pounds. I didn’t like the way I looked at all. I did lose some of the weight in the summer, but could not lose it all. By the time I had finished my third year of university, I was back at this weight of 235 pounds. I decided I was finally going to do something about it. 

I had thought about a personal trainer, but I didn’t want to spend the money, nor did I think it would be motivating enough for me. I tried working out at home with the equipment I have, but just like in previous trips to the gym, I would give up. Finally, my friend Phil told me about the PumpUp App. It really is like having a personal trainer in your pocket. I can set my workouts to my desired level. I can work out for as long or as little as I want, depending on my schedule. It really just caters to my needs as a user. The app has a large database of exercises ranging from core, to arms, to legs and keeps updating itself based on your progress. Never again will I continuously do 2 sets of bicep curls and think that I’m finished. The app keeps challenging me to lift more weight in an exercise or get that one or two extra reps in. 

I started using PumpUp in May of this year, at the time, I mentioned I weighed 235 pounds. I am very proud to say that I currently weight 197 pounds and I owe a great deal of thanks to this app. I have so much more energy, as well as confidence in myself. I feel the best I have in a good long time. I am more focused now on maintaining a healthy lifestyle than I have ever been in so many years.

So, thank you PumpUp! Fitness really just got personal.
