How Justine lost 35 lbs. in 7 months as a mother of 3

How Justine lost 35 lbs. in 7 months as a mother of 3

After Justine became a mother of three, she realized that her metabolism wasn't as fast as it used to be. "I really started using PumpUp around March 2015 because I gained a lot of weight after I had my children, I didn't lead a very healthy lifestyle, and I didn't feel good about myself any more," she revealed. "I needed to change my lifestyle not only for myself, but for my children."

Got Excuses? Jessi's Story Will Motivate You to Let Go of Them

Either eating mostly peanut butter sandwiches — and sometimes, nothing at all — Jessi realized that her stressful schedule was wreaking havoc on her body. "My lifestyle before PumpUp was [that] of a typical on-the-go mom," she shared. "I was extremely lazy and found every excuse. I was in a vicious cycle of hating my body, then eating because I wasn't happy."

How Venus stays healthy and active as a mother of two

How often do you work out on an average week? Venus is a PumpUp member and a mother of two children who strives to exercise for 6 days a week - at least 3 hours a day. "Summer is my very active season," she revealed. "I'm constantly doing something." When Venus isn't going for a fast-paced run, performing medicine ball push-ups, or lifting heavy at the gym (she can deadlift 165 lbs, for instance), she's motivating others on the PumpUp community to do the best that they can.

How I beat Crohn's disease, lost 60 lbs, and turned my life around - Pauline's PumpUp Success Story

How I beat Crohn's disease, lost 60 lbs, and turned my life around - Pauline's PumpUp Success Story

image1.jpeg

After losing almost 60 lbs in 2014, Pauline began her search for a social platform that would keep her motivated and inspired to continue her fitness journey. "I found PumpUp in January to keep me motivated," she insisted. "I needed to maintain a proper diet and PumpUp helped me do just that." It was of utmost importance for Pauline to maintain a commitment to her health. "I had bowel problems because of Crohn's disease and my spine began to deteriorate from my excess weight and lack of exercise," she explained. "I weighed over 186 lbs (13 stone) in May 2014 and I've been hospitalized numerous times because of my ailments. Moreover, I smoked and binge drank. It was a recipe for disaster." Since Pauline joined the PumpUp community, she began to feel rejuvenated in more ways than one. "After I joined PumpUp, my life changed completely and I'm in better shape now than I was when I was 20 years old: physically and mentally," she confirmed. "I knew I had to hit rock bottom in order to change. I did so with the help of PumpUp, my family, and my trainer." Pauline was so motivated by her progress that she enrolled in and recently completed a diploma program for nutritional therapy.  "This was so important for me, as I realized that you can't out-train a bad diet," she insisted.

Pauline beat Crohn's disease

It's never too late to start. Though Pauline suffered an intense journey full of hardship and various medical ailments, she hasn't had the need to visit the doctor or hospital in over a year thanks to the progress that she made with the help of PumpUp. "I lost 7 babies through miscarriage from a blood clotting disorder and heart arrhythmia," she elaborated. "I was a mess when my only child turned 18 years old. That year, I decided that it was time to change. If somebody told me last year that my fused spine would be bench-pressing, deadlifting, and squatting with heavy weights, I would have laughed at them. Thanks to PumpUp, exercise, and nutrition, anything is possible."

Pauline hopes to continue her journey with PumpUp by staying in close touch with the community that motivated her along the way. "I will continue to use PumpUp to connect with likeminded individuals who keep me inspired and remind me why I started," she said firmly. "There is no going back on my ultimate goal: compete in a body building competition here in Ireland. I am determined to win once I set my foot on the stage."

Pauline's Biggest Motivation

"It's myself, without a doubt. I beat Crohn's disease and defied the odds despite having a fused spine. All of this happened because of nutrition and weight training. Nothing in life worth having is free or easy. It's been hard, but I did it. I'm so proud that I have my health and my life back."

Pauline's Favorite Exercise

Definitely weight training or calisthenics. I love chin ups, but I need to refine my technique.

More about Pauline

I'm a big foodie and I have a blog where I post recipes and share about my progress. It was another motivational tool to have on this journey in addition to PumpUp. How I lost my baby weight for good - Vanessa's PumpUp Success Story

How I lost my baby weight for good - Vanessa's PumpUp Success Story

Baby weight isn't impossible to lose. When Vanessa joined the PumpUp community in June 2014, she was fiercely determined to shed the 50 lbs that she gained while she was pregnant with her son. "As soon as I got clearance from my doctor, I dived right into PumpUp," she recounted. "I shared photos every day and my PumpUp family would motivate me by commenting and pushing me daily, especially @randiashley and @tweetii. PumpUp workouts and a program called T25 got me started, because I didn't know too many exercises when I first started out." Backed by motivation from the PumpUp community, Vanessa lost over 30 lbs of her baby weight. Prior to PumpUp, Vanessa's eating habits went astray. It was common for her to eat several hot dogs and a large-sized pizza in one sitting. "I didn't know anything about planning my meals, or what eating healthy really meant," she professed. "On an average day, I would look at fit people and wish I was them. While I was pregnant, I knew that I would bounce back as soon as I had my baby."

Vanessa Mejia : Her PumpUp post-pregnancy story

Since Vanessa joined the PumpUp community, she exercises on a daily basis and shares about each of her workouts on PumpUp to keep herself accountable. "I became a wellness coach too," she added. "I know there are people who look up to me now. Using PumpUp daily and putting my life out there actually keeps me motivated to work out, especially when I don't want to." Vanessa likes check up on members who motivate her the most on PumpUp. She's also inspired by those who are just beginning their fitness journeys. "Looking at progress pictures really motivates me to work out," she insisted.

Making time to exercise isn't always easy when you have a baby, but Vanessa worked hard to create a schedule that accommodates her lifestyle. She stays positive by maintaining a firm resolve to never compare her progress with that of anybody else's. "Be patient, be persistent, and don't compare yourself with others," she advised. "Use PumpUp to track your journey and don't be afraid to share about your concerns. PumpUp has amazing motivators who are always positive."

Vanessa Mejia : Her PumpUp post-pregnancy story

As Vanessa continues her journey on PumpUp, she strives to make as many fit friends as she can from around the world. "I love how this app allows us to connect with people from other countries in a close setting," she shared. Vanessa ultimately hopes to gain 10 more pounds of muscle and might even consider training for a fitness competition in the future. Finally, she's trying to help her father, mother, and sister overcome their less healthy habits. "My dad had a dialysis a few weeks ago due to his diabetes and bad eating habits," she said solemnly. "Trying to stay consistent with my workouts has been hard, but I make time for it when I can."

Vanessa's Biggest Source of Motivation

My biggest source of motivation is my son and family. I want to set a healthy example to the people around me, I want to be here for a long time. Thus, I need to eat healthy and active. The people who have always kept me motivated have been @Randiashley and @Tweetii on PumpUp. Since day one, they kept pushing me to lose my baby weight and they made it happen!

Favourite Workout Routines

I love the ab and lower body workouts that I can put together on PumpUp, I love how I can decide which body groups I need to target with the equipment I have on hand. It helps me because I work out at home. When I go to the gym or want to try something different than a Beachbody Workout, it is easy to put together. I usually do Beachbody programs because I am a coach, and I also love weightlifting.

Vanessa's Meals

I love everything organic. 85% of my food is organic. It does cost more, but I'm passionate about investing in my health. Recently, I had stomach problems when I attempted to eat processed food. My body has completely changed and I won't go back to the way that I was eating before.

More about Vanessa

I am a stay at home mom. Over the course of my year-long fitness journey, I lost over 30 pounds by eating healthy, doing Beachbody programs like 725 and the 21 day fix, and using PumpUp. I became a wellness coach through Beachbody to help others lose weight and become healthy. I also became P90X certified and will become a group exercise instructor and personal trainer soon. I recently told my husband (2 weeks ago) that I was going to quit nursing school to pursue my business with Beachbody and to become a fitness instructor. I LOVE the fitness lifestyle and everything about it. I want everyone to have the chance to build a business from home if they need to, so that they too can stay home with their children without missing out on opportunities.

How PumpUp helped me to become a better personal trainer - Eleanor's PumpUp Success Story

How PumpUp helped me to become a better personal trainer - Eleanor's PumpUp Success Story

Screenshot_2015-05-24-11-09-36.jpg
Not only is PumpUp member @eleanorjane_k a mother of 3 and a personal trainer, she also overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles. This self-professed gym junkie joined PumpUp in 2014 after one of her good friends @mariabellhouse suggested that she'd enjoy it more than other social media platforms. "She was right," said Eleanor. "I post a lot of fitness-related things on social media. Once I joined PumpUp, I knew it would be a better, more suitable, and more positive place to share my posts."
Eleanor nurtured a strong passion for health and wellness ever since she was 15 years old. "I would train at home in my lounge every morning because I was a size 16 (US 12) and miserable with how I looked," she recounted. Three pregnancies later, Eleanor managed to maintain her shape at a size 6-8 (US 2-4) because she's fuelled by her enthusiasm for living a healthy lifestyle. "Training for me goes far beyond aesthetics," she insisted. "It taught me about discipline and commitment. Most importantly, especially because of the help of the PumpUp community, fitness has taught me to love myself for who I am."
Eleanor's PumpUp Success Story
She was thrilled that the PumpUp community was so compatible with her interests. "I still train hard and eat well every day," she explained. "The main difference is that since I joined PumpUp, I have a more positive self-image. I also feel like I have a lot more support and encouragement for my fitness lifestyle. Most of my friends aren't too enthusiastic about fitness." In turn, the PumpUp community's positivity helped Eleanor become a better personal trainer. "I've learned a lot about other people's perspectives from their posts," she continued. "I feel like this has helped me to empathize better as a personal trainer. More importantly, I value my health and my body much more than I did before I joined PumpUp."
It hasn't always been easy for Eleanor to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Developing a positive body image with PumpUp ended up being a particularly important accomplishment for Eleanor. She had to overcome immense hurdles in order to get to where she is today. "Mentally, I've had to overcome low self-esteem, depression, anorexia, and self harm," she confessed. "Physically, I've dealt with endometriosis and SPD during pregnancy. Currently, I'm on and off crutches while I wait for knee surgery. I never let it stop me or use it as an excuse. I train hard now because I love my body, not because I hate it."
 Eleanor's PumpUp Success Story
After receiving so much support from the PumpUp community while she was on and off crutches, Eleanor created the #ReasonsToSmile hashtag challenge as her way of giving back. "I wanted everybody on PumpUp to share a picture of what made them smile, and to give 5 reasons why they do it," Eleanor enthused. Since then, over 100 PumpUp members followed in Eleanor's example by sharing about the reasons why they smile. The success of her hashtag is a testament to the inspirational and supportive nature of the PumpUp community.
Eleanor's best advice
Start small. Small, positive changes are easier to maintain and lead to bigger changes.  Most importantly, be kind to yourself always: No one is perfect.
 Eleanor's PumpUp Success Story
Eleanor's biggest source of motivation
My biggest  motivation is my job and my children. I feel I need to be a  good role model as a personal trainer and as a mother.
Eleanor's Favourite Workout
I love Pauline Nordin's Butt Bible. Jim Stoppani's Bulk and Shred programmes are great as well! Currently, I'm doing a 5 day split in the gym, on top of teaching 5 classes a week!
Fun fact about Eleanor
I have an honours degree in English literature.
Keep Eleanor pumped and join her on the PumpUp community @eleanorjane_k! Have questions for Eleanor? Let us know in the comments below or Tweet @PumpUp!

At the young age of 25, Joy has already been through a fitness journey that most people would never experience in a lifetime. This mother has already lost an admirable 40+ lbs since college, and it's all thanks to hard work and dedication. "I was 145 lbs and in high school in 2007, then 189 lbs in 2009 when I was in college," said Joy. "It's 2015, and the fit and new me is 140 lbs. I'll never give up."  Transformation Tuesday: Joy

Joy exudes confidence: it's palpable in her smile. As a member of PumpUp since January 2014, Joy constantly turns to the community for support as she tracks her progress. "I'm not fully there yet, but I'm slowly getting there," she admitted. "I love my PumpUp family, the support is AWESOME!"

There is no one secret to Joy's success. Much of her progress is attributable to a consistent workout schedule. "I started off with cardio then moved on to weightlifting," she elaborated. "Best decision ever. I feel stronger as the days go by." You'll hardly find a moment without Joy's signature smile. She demonstrates that anything can fall into place as long as you have a positive attitude.

Transformation Tuesday : Joy

As Joy continues along her fitness journey with the PumpUp community, she hopes to gain more strength and learn to be at peace with her body. "I hope to be able to meet my PumpUp family and be able to train together with them," responded Joy, when asked about what items were on her fitness "bucket list". We hope that we can make her dream happen too!

Transformation Tuesday: Desiree

Progress: it’s more about the journey than the end result, and PumpUp member @dezireeryonna can confirm!

"I was always overweight. I wanted to be ‘skinny’ so bad that I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle to do so. Don’t ever sacrifice your health. I’m doing it right this time, and so can you."

She lost over 60 lbs of her pregnancy weight, going from 189 lbs to 128 lbs by eating lots of protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, as well as fruits and vegetables. She works out from home with 45-60 mins of high intensity interval training.
